A Covenant to St Michael's
Making a commitment to the church
Here is a copy of the covenant that we are encouraged to sign up to. This is a serious business and reading through the different aspects of the commitment may seem very strong. This is deliberate for we want to be a group of people, a family, with a strong identity and a shared vision. How about joining us and signing up to this declaration...
Worship
- I will seek to worship God with my whole heart, soul, body and mind. I want my whole life to glorify him.
- I will make joining with others in worship a priority in my life
- I will encourage others as they use their gifts for the building up of the church and I will serve the church by discovering which gifts God has given me and offering them in humility
Community
- I am committed to the church family of St Michael’s
- I will seek to play a full part in the life of the community
- I will pray for the church regularly
- I will give generously to support our common life together
- I will offer hospitality
- I will care for those in need
- I will not gossip or speak badly about others
- I will model my approach to others on Jesus
Discipleship
- I am committed to Jesus and want to follow him
- I have decided to routinely align every aspect of my life with the words and commands of Jesus because I believe that that is simply the most logical, sensible, joyful and wonderful way to live.
- I will pray daily and base my life on the word of God
- I will seek to grow in maturity, sharing with others, learning from them and meeting regularly with them
Mission
- My main aim in life is to be someone who participates in the mission and purposes of God
- Before everything else I am seeking the kingdom of God
- I am an ambassador of Christ
- I am committed to praying for my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours that they might decide to belong to Jesus too and I seek to love them as myself
- I am part of the body of Christ and know that my behaviour and my life influences how others see Jesus and what they think of the kingdom of God
- I am willing for God to use me in any way
- I have a passion that people in Twerton come to experience the life that Jesus offers them
