When we think of church many people instantly think of a building and the
things that go on inside it. We want to change that and turn it on it's head. We
want everyone, when they think of St Michaels, to think instantly of
people - people like themselves - people making a
difference. We hope that St Michael's is different. We are a growing community
of people of all backgrounds and all ages and we are convinced that God wants to
do great things here in Twerton. While we love to get together on Sundays we
don't want to be known primarily for our 'services'. We want to be known for
other things - friendship, concern, authenticity, community, enthusiasm, joy,
giving, life. Having said all this, we know we're nothing special - just a group
of ordinary people - like you.
Websites are great - they look good... but they are not the real thing. Please
do have a look around our site and find out what we're about and what we're up
to, but the best way of getting to know what we're really like is to get in
touch or turn up at one of the things we're involved in. We'd love to hear from
you...
The question is this: Why is there so much suffering in the world, in or lives? A baby dies, a tsunami hits, an earthquake
devastates a country, people starve... Who's responsible? How do we respond? What do we believe? How do we trust again?
Come and explore these and other questions as we think these things through
once again together on Sunday mornings and on Tuesday evenings over the next two
weeks.
We are hearing the call of God to prayer and want to make sure that instead of this being a call to attend another meeting we manage to weave this into
the very heart of our lives. Recently Richard preached on the call for us to be a 'house of prayer' and for us to live in 'houses of prayer' -making each of our homes places and centres of prayer., click
here to listen to it...
Email any ideas about how
you are managing to make your own home a house of prayer so that we can share
the ideas amongst ourselves. Thanks
